CUBE ACUMEN

BUSINESS ACUMEN & BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY SIMULATION

Build a Business.
Create a Blue Ocean.

Compete in the Red Ocean. Win in the Blue Ocean.

Gravity puts you in charge of a personal care company competing against rival teams for the same customers. Every round, you set price, product, and operations decisions across nine areas of the business — then watch the market respond. From Round 3, you can stop fighting rivals for the same customers and launch into space they haven't touched yet.

WHY GRAVITY IS DIFFERENT

Most business simulations stop at competing harder. Gravity teaches you to compete somewhere else.

Every team starts in the same red ocean — many rivals fighting the same customers on price, share of voice, and shelf space. Most simulations end there. Gravity doesn't: from Round 3, you can apply Blue Ocean Strategy for real, using the ERRC framework — Eliminate, Reduce, Raise, Create — to design a product space none of your rivals occupy yet.

Design a real Blue Ocean launch

Reshape your product's ERRC canvas and commit capital to a genuinely new space — not a bigger marketing budget for the same product.

Win the head start

Get there first and you capture the space largely uncontested, before any rival can respond.

Defend it as rivals copy you

Move too slowly, and a rival launches into your space as a copycat — at a real cost disadvantage, but still fighting you for the same new customers.

A simulation that changes with you

Your facilitator can reshape the market mid-run — introducing a macroeconomic shock (a demand shift from an event like a pandemic or downturn), shifting customer buying behaviour toward different channels, or rebalancing the demographic mix across regions. You'll see the impact land as a News Flash — new information that changes what the right decision is, not just a harder version of the same one.

YOUR PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

Three products.
One shared balance sheet.

Every pricing, marketing, and production decision competes for the same capital — a rupee spent defending your face wash is a rupee not spent launching your night cream.

Eco-Friendly Face Wash

Mass-to-premium daily-use cleanser — the category's highest-volume, most price-sensitive battleground.

Botanical Hair Serum

Higher-margin grooming product with a growing, ingredient-conscious buyer base.

Anti-Aging Night Cream

Premium skincare — the category's most brand- and quality-sensitive product.

THE COMPETITIVE FIELD

Four regions.
Many rivals.
One market.

You and three other teams sell into the same four regional markets, starting from an identical position. Consumer behavior isn't uniform across regions — what wins in one market won't automatically win in another. What separates the winning team isn't luck — it's reading each region and committing capital where it counts.

Ranking is scored on your Total Shareholder Return, weighted across the metrics your facilitator chooses for this run — no two cohorts have to compete under identical rules unless your instructor wants that.

HOW IT WORKS

The decision cycle

Each round represents one operating year. Your team makes decisions across nine business areas — then the simulation computes what the market, your finances, and your rivals did in response.

Strategize

Set your team's priorities for the round

Decide

Complete decisions across 9 modules

Submit

Your Leader locks in the team's round

Results

See financials, market share, and rankings

Adjust

Diagnose what worked and refine your strategy

DECISION AREAS

Nine functions.
One team.

Your team's Leader delegates modules across teammates — every decision below feeds the same simulation engine, so nothing is isolated from anything else.

01

Sales & Marketing

Brand spend, digital mix, and channel push across every region.

02

Branding

Positioning, packaging, and how each product is perceived versus rivals.

03

Outbound Logistics & Distribution

Getting product from plant to shelf, region by region.

04

Operations/Production

Shift planning, output targets, and manufacturing quality.

05

Inbound Logistics & Sourcing

Raw material contracts, hedging, and supply commitments.

06

R&D and Product Development

Quality, eco-formulation, and where Blue Ocean launches begin.

07

HR & Talent Management

Headcount, upskilling, and the people behind every other decision.

08

IT & Infrastructure

Systems, automation, and the backbone that keeps operations running.

09

Finance & Management Accounting

Capital structure, credit terms, and the numbers that judge everything else.

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

Judgment a lecture
can't teach

Gravity is built to make trade-offs feel real — because the consequences of every decision follow you into the next round.

Team collaborating during the Gravity simulation

Integrated business thinking

See how a marketing spend decision shows up in production targets, working capital, and next round's brand equity — nothing here is isolated.

Blue Ocean strategy, applied

Move beyond competing on price. Use the ERRC framework to design a genuinely new market space — then defend it as rivals copy you.

Financial statement fluency

Every decision you make becomes a line in your own P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement next round.

Competitive judgment under pressure

Four teams, four regions, one market. Read what rivals are doing and adjust — with real consequences, every round.
